If you are a woman with or at risk of heart disease or want to learn more about heart disease, there are support groups available in person or online. I’ve listed them below.

WomenHeart support group meeting monthly at Tucson Medical Center Senior Center at 2695 N. Craycroft in Tucson, Arizona.  Phone is 520-324-1960
Meetings are held monthly on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 2:00pm.  Each meeting features a speaker or discussion topic of interest to women living with heart disease.

Sarver Heart Center (at Banner Hospital) offers monthly educational meetings. The Women Heart Health Education Committee provides informative lectures and resources to volunteer at awareness events, and frequent opportunities for clinical trials. Contact the Program Coordinator Sarver Heart Center at 520-626-2901      

Screening test for calcium in arteries.  These tests are typically not covered by insurance. Cost is around $125.  In Tucson, Arizona, they are available at Pima Heart & Vascular with Doctors orders at the River Road location; 2404 E. River Rd #270.  Call 520-838-2540 for info

Carolyn Thomas is a wonderful resource. This is her book A Woman’s Guide to Living with Heart Disease. She also writes a blog, Heart Sisters.
